ATTENTION: IF THIS IS A SINGLE CD UPGRADE (NOT A FULL INSTALLATION WITH SOLARIS OS) OF THE WSM TO R01.05.11, FOLLOW THE STEPS IN “SINGLE CD UPGRADE”.

Before beginning, you must be connected to the “Serial A/LOM” port of the WSM PLATFORM via a dumb terminal, another Sun workstation, or via a terminal server (or patch panel connected to a terminal server). See the Sun WSM PLATFORM User's Manual ( http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/hardware/docs/pdf/816-2090-10.pdf Chapter 6) for more information about setting up a connection.

 

FRESH INSTALL - SUN NETRA440

WHERE TO START - If the WSM PLATFORM has a prior version of the WSM installed, you should see a console login prompt after connection to the Serial-A/LOM port. That is ok, start with Step 5 on the next page. Otherwise, if this is the first time powering on the WSM, start with Step 1 below.

  1. After setting up the “Serial A/LOM” connection, the following text appears:

    Sun(tm) Advanced Lights Out Manager 1.5 ()

    sc>

    Type: break [Return] If you receive an error message that password for the “admin” user is not set, then type in a password for this user. IMPORTANT : Make sure to write this user and password down for future reference!

  2. Type: poweron [Return]
  3. Type: break [Return] A prompt will appear:

    Sun(tm) Advanced Lights Out Manager 1.5 ()

    sc>

  4. Type: y [Return]

    Type: console [Return]

    The system will go through a brief power-up sequence.

    Please make a choice (0 - 10), or press h or ? for help:

    By default the machine is trying to setup the pre-installed Solaris 8 Operating System. The next two steps interrupt this setup so that the Solaris 9 Operating System can be installed via CD-ROM.

  7. Type: #. (pound, period). If a prompt appears for a username and password, the user is “admin”. The password is the same as the one chosen in Step 1 on the previous page. An sc prompt appears:

    sc>

  9. At the sc prompt, type: break[Return]
  10. The following text appears:

    sc> break

    Are you sure you want to send a break to the system [y/n]?

     

  11. Type: y [Return] After getting the sc> prompt again,
  12. Type: console [Return] [Return] The following prompt appears:

    sc> console

    Enter #. to return to ALOM.

    {1} ok

    Insert the CD labeled WSM Solaris CD 1 of 2 into the WSM Platform by pushing the button on the CD-ROM drive to manually eject the machine's CD tray.

  13. At the ok prompt, Type: boot cdrom – install[Return]

  14. Make sure the command is boot <space> cdrom <space> <space> install .

    After a few minutes you will see a license agreement. Read each part of the license agreement. Type ‘ c ' to scroll through the license agreement. You will have to do this multiple times to reach the end of the license agreement. At the end type: y [Return] to accept the agreement. You should then see the following text:

    PROCEED TO “INSTALL SOLARIS 9”

FRESH INSTALL - SUN V120 AND V210

The fresh installation for both the V120 and V210 platforms are independent to the steps performed in this MOP. The Installer will treat both the V120 and V210 platforms the same when performing a fresh installation.

WHERE TO START – If the WSM PLATFORM has a prior version of the WSM installed, you should see a console login prompt after connection to the Serial-A/LOM port. That is ok, start with Step 4. Otherwise, if this is the first time powering on the WSM, start with Step 1.

Install Solaris 9

  1. You should see the following prompt:

  3. The system will prompt the user for the following information: Hostname, IP Address of the Ethernet interface, netmask, router IP, domain name, and Domain Name Servers. Obtain this information from Section 3 - Page 6 . REMEMBER , only one Name Server is required. Hit [Return] for Name Servers 2 and 3, if you only have one.

    Type: <hostname>[Return]

    Type: <Ethernet IP Address>[Return]

    Type: <netmask>[Return]

    Type: <router IP>[Return]

    Type: <domain name>[Return]

    Type: < IP Address Of Name Server 1>[Return]

    Type: < IP Address Of Name Server 2>[Return]

    Type: < IP Address Of Name Server 3>[Return]

  4. You should see the following prompt:

    Would you like to setup a VLAN? (y/n):

  5. IMPORTANT

    If you did not fill in a VLAN ID because you do not have a VLAN

    WHICH IS CONFIGURED FOR QOS, then type: n [Return].

    Skip to Step 4 below.

     

    Otherwise, if you DO have a VLAN configured for QoS, type: y [Return]

    You should see the following prompt:

    Enter a VLAN ID:

    Enter the VLAN id which you wrote down on page 6 of this MOP.

  6. You will be shown a summary of your entries. Type: y [Return] if they are correct.
  7. You should see the following prompt:
  8. Please select how you would like to specify the TimeZone

    [1] Specify TimeZone

    [2] Specify Locality (from which TimeZone is calculated)

    Enter an Option [1/2]:

    Type: 2 (Locality) [Return]

  9. You should see the following prompt:

    To setup the TIMEZONE for this system you can choose a

    LOCALITY. If you choose a LOCALITY, you will

    be prompted to choose a city which closest represents your area.

    Press Enter to view the available Localities.

  10. Press [Return] to view the Timezone list.

  11. IMPORTANT : Setting the time zone to GMT plus/minus an offset is NOT the same as your actual time zone. Setting the time zone to a GMT based time does not take into account daylight saving time and local policies. It is therefore recommended that you choose the Country or Continent where you are currently located (or where the WSM will be running). For example, if you are in the United States , type: US [Return]
  12. After choosing the locality, you should get a subset of new localities which lie within your selection. If you chose US in the previous step, pick the time zone where the WSM will be running. For example, if the WSM will be running in Chicago , type: Central [Return]
  13. You will be shown the calculated date and time. If it is correct, press [Return] . If the default time is incorrect, enter the current time/date by using the format displayed on the screen.

    The Solaris Installation will take an additional 35 minutes before going to the next step.

  14. Wait until you see the following prompt:

    Please specify the media from which you will install Solaris 9 Software 2 of 2 (4/04 SPARC Platform Edition).

    Alternatively, choose the selection for "Skip" to skip this disc and go on to

    the next one.

    Media:

    1. CD/DVD

    2. Network File System

    3. Skip

    Media[1]:

  15. Press [Return]

    You should see the following prompt:

    Please insert the CD/DVD for Solaris 9 Software 2 of 2 (4/04 SPARC Platform Edition).

    After you insert the disc, please press Enter.

    Enter S to skip this disc and go on to the next one.

    To select a different media, enter B to go Back.

    (The CD requested is actually labeled: WSM Solaris CD 2 of 2 .)

  16. Remove the CD labeled WSM Solaris CD 1 of 2 and place the CD labeled WSM Solaris CD 2 of 2 into the WSM PLATFORM CD tray. (The CD tray should automatically eject during the previous step).
  17. After this is done, press [Return]

    The installation of WSM Solaris CD 2 of 2 takes approximately 10 minutes.

    Ignore any warning messages.

  18. You should see the following prompt:

Install WSM Components

  1. After the machine reboots, you should see the following prompt:
  2. Insert WLAN WSM Application CD and press the ‘Enter' key

    Place the cd labeled “WSM Application CD” into the WSM Platform CD tray.

    (The CD tray should automatically open from the above step.)

    Press [Return]

  3. You will see a license agreement. Read each part of the license agreement. Type ‘ c ' to scroll through the license agreement. You will have to do this multiple times to reach the end of the license agreement. If you agree with the terms of the license, type: y [Return] to accept the agreement .
  4. WSM Software Installation
  5. The installation of the WSM packages and components will now occur. This process will take up to 40 minutes to complete. During this process, you will be prompted once and asked if you wish to continue with the installation. You may select ‘yes', or you can ignore this prompt, as the installation will continue after 60 seconds, by default.

  6. Perform the workarounds in Appendix A.
  7. Install the latest patch using the instructions in Appendix B.
  8. To activate the WSM, follow the instructions in Appendix C. Please note that activation REQUIRES the NSM to be installed and that the NSM has a connection to the WSM.
  9. After activation, the WSM applications should start up using the default WSM configuration. Use the NSM to download certificates specific to the PBX.
  10. Links to the PBX, AAA, etc. will not be established at this time and dispatch/interconnect calls with not work. At this time you should push the correct WSM configuration from the NSM. This will restart the WSM applications with the correct configuration and allow you to start processing calls.
