Configuring a WSM with Pre-Installed Software

 









 

 

 

This section describes how to configure system parameters in situations where you may have a WSM box with pre-installed software. Using a utility called “wjanitor”, you can perform the following tasks:

 

  • Configure Hostname
  • Configure Domain Name
  • WSM IP Address (Gateway IP Address)
  • Configure Domain Name Server (1, 2, and 3)
  • Router IP Address
  • Configure VLAN ID
  • Configure Netmask
  • Configure Time and Time Zone

 

Configure System Parameters

 

Overview: The WSM system parameters are set by using a utility called “wjanitor”.

Telnet into the system: username: wjanitor
  Password: Gof0r1t

 

Note: Please note that some of these options require the WSM applications to be stopped and some options will force an automatic WSM reboot after the updates are made.

  1. From the wjanitor main menu, select option 5
  2. ========================

    1. Check RPM Status

    2. Repair RPM Database

    3. Enable Keyboard Abort

    4. Disable Keyboard Abort

    5. Update WSN System Parameters

    6. Log out

    Enter selection: 5

  3. The following screen appears:

    The options below will allow you to update some of the WSN System parameters including the time/date.

    Please note that some of these options require the WSN applications to be stopped and some options will force an automatic WSN reboot after the updates are made.

  4. Select an option:
  5. 1) Update WSN Time and Network Parameters (hostname, IP, VLAN ID)

    2) Update Time/Date/Timezone Only

    Enter your choice: 1

    The current time and date are: 14:05:01 Fri Sep 16 2005

    The current timezone is: US/Central

    You have the choice of changing the time/date or the timezone.

  6. Please select one below:
  7.  

    1) Change timezone and time

    2) No change, everything looks good.

    Enter your choice: 2

     

  8. The system responds: OK, Change Network Parameters
  9. Here is the current info:

    ----------------------------------------

    Hostname : [FORTWORTH]

    Domain Name : [comm.mot.com]

    WSN IP : [203.8.72.108]

    DNS IP 1 : [203.8.72.77]

    DNS IP 2 : [none]

    DNS IP 3 : [none]

    ROUTER IP : [203.8.72.110]

    VLAN ID : [4]

    NETMASK : [255.255.255.0]

    ---------------------------------------

  10. Enter the New Hostname for this WSN
  11. To keep the current value (FORTWORTH), just press [Enter]:

  12. Enter the New Domain Name for this WSN
  13. To keep the current value (comm.mot.com), just press [Enter]:

  14. Enter the New IP address for this WSN
  15. To keep the current value (203.8.72.108), just press [Enter]:

  16. Enter the New IP address of the DNS server #1
  17. If you do not want a DNS Server #1, enter 0

    To keep the current value (203.8.72.77), just press [Enter]:

  18. Enter the New IP address of the DNS server #2
  19. If you do not want a DNS Server #2, enter 0

    To keep the current value (none), just press [Enter]:

  20. Enter the New IP address of the DNS server #3
  21. If you do not want a DNS Server #3, enter 0

    To keep the current value (none), just press [Enter]:

  22. Enter the New IP address of the Default Router
  23. To keep the current value (203.8.72.110), just press [Enter]:

  24. Enter the New VLAN ID (range = 1 to 4094)
  25. If you do not have a QoS enabled VLAN, enter 0

    To keep the current value (4), just press [Enter]:

  26. Enter the New Netmask
  27. To keep the current value (), just press [Enter]:
